With two decades of experience successfully handling complex legal matters at the trial court and appellate level, Mr. Haslem, focuses his practice on family law and domestic relations issues. He represents clients in divorce matters, child custody and parenting time disputes, as well as complex business valuation issues in multiple sectors, including professional practices. Mr. Haslem also represents clients in related matters, such as alimony/spousal support, child support, cases involving hidden or secreted assets, as well as separate, inherited and/or gifted assets. Mr. Haslem has tried to conclusion various multi-million dollar cases, and has a breadth of trial and litigation experience that includes both state and federal trial courts.

Mr. Haslem also assists clients in appellate matters, and has significant experience in advocating for his clients before both the Michigan Court of Appeals and the Michigan Supreme Court, having addressed to Michigan’s highest appellate court a number of novel and cutting-edge legal issues. Mr. Haslem has earned the respect of both the bench and the bar, and is considered a zealous, outstanding and assertive advocate for his clients. Unlike many other attorneys, Mr. Haslem also represents clients with issues or disputes in unmarried domestic partnership situations, including same-sex partnerships. Indeed, having recognized that a valued segment of society was under-served in the legal process when disputes arose, Mr. Haslem became one of the founding editors of the first scholary journal of its kind with the aim to open the legal forum for the resolution of these kinds of disputes to all.

In addition to his considerable trial and appellate experience involving significant cases, Mr. Haslem has also received extensive training in alternative dispute resolution, including mediation, and recognizes that both mediation and arbitration play a crucial role in the resolution of these sensitive and complex issues.

Mr. Haslem graduated from Aquinas College with a Bachelor of Arts in 1986, and received his J.D. from Tulane University School of Law in 1991.

Mr. Haslem is married and he and his wife have two young children. They reside in East Grand Rapids, Michigan.
